Dear Editor
"A woman has a right to her own body." Who said so? Some feminist? Some left wing radical? Who said a woman has a right to her own body? What makes that concept so acceptable by women of this decade? Perhaps Hitler's philosophy was right; you say something often enough and loud enough and people believe it. There are at least three things wrong with the anti-chance group's (pro-choicers who don't want to give the unborn child a chance to life) concept that a woman has a right to her own body and she can do with it what she pleases. First that is not an absolute right. She does not have the legal right to kill her self. We all know that. She does not have a right to expose her body or to exploit it. No person has that much right over their own body. Second, it is not just their body in question. The body of the unborn child is at stake. The issue is not about harming the body of the woman, but of destroying the body of the unborn child. Third, God says some very definite things about any person's body. To the christian God says, ". . . ye are not your own? You are bought with a price: . . .," I Corinthians 6:19, 20. The christian's body belongs to the Lord by right of redemption. To the unregenerate God says, "Hath not the potter power over the clay, . . .," Romans 9:21 The Lord has the right over the body of the unregenerate by the right of creation. And to the married woman God says in I Corinthians 7:4 that the husband has authority over the body of the wife, and the wife has authority over the body of the husband. We learn from Jeremiah 1:5, and other places, that conception is a work of the Lord. It is an attack against God to kill his handy work. It is the height of selfishness to kill the unborn child for the mother's convenience. I praise the Lord for the Supreme Court's decision that will begin to allow states to protect the life of unborn citizens from selfish parents and greedy doctors. Man is created in the image of God and is responsible to be the image bearer of God. God pronounces judgment on those who will destroy those created in the image of God, Genesis 9:6. It is a very serious thing to kill children. Abortion is the ultimate form of child abuse. But God; thanks be to God for the forgiveness of sins in Christ Jesus, even to those who were once supporters of killing babies.
